Tree art delights–and reminds us to cherish our urban canopy

Thanks to West Broadway resident Rob Shaw for contributing this story!

I love the way that people have found creative and beautiful ways to draw attention to the trees around us in our urban environment.

One of those initiatives is the fantastic, whimsical, magical carving of some of trees along the Seine River in St Vital (photo above).

Another local resident installed beautiful wooden bands around some of the fallen trees at the end of Spence Street in West Broadway, intricate wooden puzzles that helped bring the river bottom forest into sharper view.

A third person on Harrow Street south of Corydon did a ‘lace bombing’ of an ash tree near their home, a striking visual reminder of the beautiful tree canopy that so many of us enjoy without often noticing its presence until it’s gone.
