Trees Please in the Free Press: Rooting for More Tree Replanting

A recent Free Press article discussed Councillor Matt Allard’s upcoming motions to explore standards for public tree replacement after roadwork-related removal and the effects of de-icing road salt on public trees. Trees Please Winnpeg Coalition was pleased to provide a comment for the piece.

“The trees are such a valuable asset and… the idea that this should be a responsibility in any road construction project is awesome. But it’s just as important to try to preserve them, rather than just replace them … Those mature trees that we could lose… deliver so many concrete benefits. It’s better if we can just prevent them from being lost in the first place.”
